World War III - Soviet: BMP-3 Company

Soviet motor rifle companies equipped with the BMP-3, Boevaya Mashina Pehoty 3 or 'Infantry Combat Vehicle 3', share the same role as their comrades equipped with the BMP-1 and BMP-2. Designed to keep pace with the leading armoured formations, the BMP-3 company will charge forward and dismount as near to the objective as possible. The infantry will use small arms, including AK-74 assault rifles and PKM light machine guns, to suppress any enemy infantry and storm their position.

Unlike the BMP-2, the BMP-3, with its low velocity 100mm gun, which can also fire the AT-10 Stabber (9M117 Bastion) missile, supports its infantry by softening up enemy strongpoints and dug-in defenders. As the BMP-3 is also equipped with the same 30mm 2A42 gun as the BMP-2, it sacrifices none of the anti-helicopter firepower afforded by the earlier model infantry fighting vehicle. This combination gives the BMP-3 mounted motor rifle companies truly the best of all possible worlds, and an amazing amount of tactical flexibility and effectiveness.
